LUMC School Care Program Information

Days and Hours of Operation

After School Care is open on scheduled school days as marked by the WS/FC School Sysytem calendar. If school is out or cancelled, After School Care will not be open.

The After School Care Program operates between the hours of 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm on scheduled school days.

Late Pick-Up Policy

Our program closes at 6:00 pm. If you are going to be late picking up your child, please try to make arrangements with another family member to pick up your child and notify the Director immediately.

If your child is picked up after 6:00pm, a late fee will be charged and payment is due at that time. The clock in the church will determine any late pick ups.

There is a 5 minute grace period to account for traffic or other incidents.

The Late Pick-Up Rates are below:

6:05-6:15 pm...........$10

6:16-6:24 pm...........$20

After 6:25 pm...........$25 plus an additional $1 for each additional minute past 6:25 pm

Late Arrival/Pick-Up Policy

If your child leaves school early for an appointment and misses bus dismissal at school, you are welcome to drop your child off at the program before 4:00 pm. If your child does not attend school for any reason, including illness, your child should not be dropped off at the program.

If any individual other than the parent or authorized party is oing to pick up your child, written authorization must be given to the Director. Individuals picking up children may be required to show photo ID. No child will be allowed to leave the premises with an unauthorized party.

We must also be advised in writing of any changes in custody of a child or any other pertinent court orders. This is for the protection of your child and only the Director will see confidential information unless our staff needs to be made aware of safety information.

Early Release Days

The WS/FC School System has instituted "Early Release" days again for the 2015-2016 School Year. On these Early Release days, students will dismiss from school and arrive at School Care two hours early.

The After School Care Program will operate until 6pm on these Early Release days. Other than the prolonged program time, After School Care will operate as usual.

Early Release Days are scheduled for:

-September 16th

-September 30th

-October 14th

-February 24th

-March 16th

-April 20th

Inclement Weather Policy

When the WS/FC School System closes early due to inclement weather, the After School Program will open early. If bad weather persists the director will send an email to parents and update the website before school is dismissed to give a closing time. Late Pick-Up charges will apply to early closing due to inclement weather. We ask you to consider the safety of your child and our staff during inclement weather and that you make arrangements to have your child picked up by the closing time as stated by the Director.

If school is closed due to inclement weather, the After School Care Program will also be closed regardless of how the weather progresses throughout the day.

Absence Policy

Please make an effort to inform the Director before any planned absences (trips, appointments, sports, etc) or as soon as possible, when your child will be absent from the program due to illness or any other reason.

Food Allergy and Prescription Medication

Information regarding foods or substance allergies needs to be in writing on the information sheet in our files. Please advise us of any special conditions or allergies that your child may have and the best way to handle it. We must receive any new health information immediately--do not assume that we know any new information about your child.

If your child needs to be given prescription medication while he or she is in attendance of the program, you will need to provide the dosage and timing information in writing to the Director. Medications must be given to the Director in the prescription bottle and will be kept locked in the program office. Medications will be dispensed by the Director.

Sick Child and Incident Policy

Each staff member is trained and certified in First Aid/CPR in order to assess and provide appropriate care in the case of minor injuries. Staff will provide basic first aid and, when appropriate, will allow the child to rejoin the group once they are feeling better.

In the event that a child becomes ill or sustains a serious injury after arriving at after school care, the Director will attempt to notify the parent/guardian by phone. If a parent/guardian cannot be contacted, emergency contacts listed on Health Form will be called in order listed. The child will remain under the Director’s care until a parent/guardian or emergency contact arrives to pick up the child.

In the case of a more serious injury or illness, Emergency Medical Services will be contacted in addition to parents/guardians.

Outdoor Activities

Our program believes that fresh air and exercise are important to a child's good health, therefore this program expects each child to participate in outdoor activities every day that weather permits. Please make sure your child wears appropriate clothing for the weather.

Children in Kindergarten and First grade should keep a change of clothes at LUMC School Care at all times.
